Studybara (“the app”) is a focus timer and study companion published by MKL App Design (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains what information the app handles and how we use it.
Summary
- We do not require an account to use the app.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We use Sentry, a crash-reporting service, to automatically detect and fix bugs. No advertising SDKs are used.
- Your study data and preferences are stored on your device, not on our servers.
Information stored on your device
The app saves data locally on your phone or tablet using on-device storage so your progress and settings persist between sessions. This may include:
- Study session history (start/end times, duration, mode, tags)
- Custom tags and labels you create
- App settings (language, display preferences, capybara name)
- In-app coins, inventory, and room layout choices
- Timer and appearance preferences
This information stays on your device unless you choose to export or share it using your device’s share sheet or similar system features.
Permissions
The app may request the following device permissions:
- Photos and camera — only if you choose to attach images to a daily log or similar feature. Images you select or capture are processed on your device and are not uploaded to our servers.
- Audio — to play optional ambient sounds during focus sessions. Audio plays locally on your device; we do not record your microphone.
You can deny or revoke permissions in your device settings. Some features may not work without the relevant permission.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect or transmit to our servers:
- Name, email address, or other account credentials (no sign-in)
- Precise location
- Contacts or call logs
Third parties
The app is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Those platforms may collect information according to their own privacy policies. We do not control their practices.
If you use system share or print features, the content you share is handled by the app or service you choose (for example, email or cloud storage), not by us.
Crash reporting
The app uses Sentry (sentry.io) to automatically capture crash reports and diagnostic information when the app encounters an error. This may include device model, operating system version, app version, and an anonymized stack trace showing where the error occurred. No personally identifying information (name, email, location) is included.
Crash data is transmitted securely to Sentry’s servers and is used solely to identify and fix bugs. It is not used for advertising and is not sold. Data retention is governed by Sentry’s privacy policy.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Data retention and deletion
Data stored by the app remains on your device until you delete it within the app (where available), clear the app’s storage in your device settings, or uninstall the app.
Security
Because data is stored locally, its security also depends on your device settings (passcode, biometrics, backups). We recommend keeping your device software up to date.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
